New roller shutter motors: Reliable solutions for residential and industrial roller shutters
Roller shutter motors are a critical component in the operation of a security roller shutter, as they determine the functionality, stability, and long-term reliability of a roller shutter, whether for residential or industrial applications. The correct choice of motor is not merely a technical matter, but a strategic investment for every installation.
At KATEE, with over 40 years of experience in the automation sector, we continuously monitor market developments and adapt our solutions with a focus on quality, safety, and the sustainability of our products. For this reason, we have undertaken a strategic upgrade of our automation mechanism range, selecting technologies that meet the modern requirements of installations.
1. Motors for residential roller shutters with spring shaft
The central roller shutter motors of Italian technology from NORTON are designed for roller shutters with spring shaft diameters of Φ60 and Φ76, covering roller shutters weighing up to 360 kg. They are available in three models and offer high performance in demanding residential applications.
All motors feature exceptional build quality and integrated, easily adjustable limit switches for precise travel programming. The manual override capability with a release cord in emergency situations, as well as the electromagnetic brake at the rear of the motor, ensure absolute safety even during power failures.
Installation is easy, even on existing roller shutters, without any modification, thanks to the modular two-piece design. Operation can be carried out with rolling code remote controls, push buttons, or a combination of both, while control via a mobile app with Smart WiFi is also supported.

Strategic upgrade of partnerships and technology
For many years, KATEE used motors from the Spanish company Pujol, with complete satisfaction in terms of quality and performance. The cessation of operations of that company made it necessary to transition to a new partner, with criteria not merely for replacement, but for an overall upgrade of the solution.
The partnership with Italian NORTON is a strategic choice, further enhancing KATEE’s reliability and technological footprint in the Greek market.
More power in practice
Compared to previous motors, the new models feature increased lifting capacity and torque. In real-world conditions, this difference translates into greater strength and reliability in daily use, while also providing a wider margin of options and greater safety in the design of each installation.
2. Motors for industrial roller shutters with TUBO shaft
KATEE’s side-mount mechanism range covers industrial roller shutters weighing up to 450 kg and is available in single-phase or three-phase versions.
The new KATEE range of side-mount motors includes reliable motors for side-coiling industrial roller shutters with tubo shaft Ø139 or Ø168, suitable for commercial and industrial use. It covers roller shutters weighing up to 450 kg and offers a reliable solution for a wide range of industrial applications. Of course, upon request, KATEE can design and support solutions for much heavier roller shutters, such as in the case of the industrial roller shutter we manufactured with a surface area of 100 m², which required special engineering and a custom mechanism.
All mechanisms feature an electric brake, a dual limit switch system, thermal protection at 120°C, and manual operation via a chain. Operation is carried out via a control panel with rolling code remote controls, with full compatibility with photocells, safety edges, and Smart WiFi.
